Activist, permaculturist, singer-songwriter and environmental troubadour Ego Lemos has been charming audiences around the world for over 10 years years with his inspiring enthusiasm for environmental and social revitalisation in his home country of Limor-Leste and abroad.
Ego has lived through tumultuous changes in his nation’s recent history – from the Portuguese colonial rule, to the Indonesian occupation, and into UN transition and Independence. He was the founder of Timor-Leste's first Permaculture centre, Permatil, which he coordinated for five years.
Ego has spoken around the world about his experience of the revitalisation that permaculture has brought to his community, and others around the world, carrying his guitar and singing his songs in praise of his nation's peasant farmers, and in support of his people's struggle for unity.
This event is hosted by Shane Rattenbury MLA, ACT Greens Member for Molonglo in partnership with the Canberra Friends of Dili.
