ACT Greens pledge to welcome Manus refugees

The ACT Greens have called on the Federal Government to close the camps on Manus Island and Nauru and pledged to welcome 100 of the 800 people currently in detention on Manus Island into the Canberra community. The announcement comes ahead of a snap action rally in Canberra tonight, which will call on the government to close the camps.

“The conditions on Manus Island and Nauru amount to torture, these detention centres are inhuman, and as a caring, compassionate community we must not accept them,” said ACT Greens multicultural spokesperson Indra Esguerra.
