The ACT Greens have announced a package of initiatives to empower Canberra businesses to achieve positive economic, social and environmental outcomes in the ACT.
“The best businesses serve the community - directly, and in broader social, economic and environmental terms,” said Greens candidate and business spokesperson Caroline Le Couteur.
“The Greens believe governments play a critical role in creating the conditions that empower businesses to thrive, which is why we’re putting forward this suite of initiatives.
“The Greens will establish an eco-tourism coordinator to promote Canberra as tourism destination for niche markets like mountain biking, horse riding and nature based tourism and heritage.
“We have so many attractions on our doorstep that could be included in packaged tours, like the Arboretum, Stromlo Forest Park, Kowen Forest, Majura Pines, Tidbinbilla, The Botanic Gardens, Mulligans Flat Sanctuary, Jerrabomberra Wetlands and Ginninderra Falls.
“To showcase the incredible creative talent in this city, the Greens will set minimum local content percentages for major events like Enlighten, Floriade and the annual Multicultural Festival to help emerging businesses, industries and enterprises flourish.
“The Innovation Districts and Tech Partnership we’ve put forward will stem the brain drain that occurs as young innovators move away and take their ideas with them.
“The ACT Greens believe that when business, government and the community sector work together we see better outcomes for Canberra, more innovation and more efficiency,” Ms Le Couteur said.
