ACT Greens MLA Shane Rattenbury has congratulated his NSW Greens colleagues for their success in the NSW election.
“It’s really exciting to see that the NSW Greens look set to win up to 4 seats in the Lower House,” said Mr Rattenbury.
“Jamie Parker has retained his seat of Balmain and Jenny Leong has claimed victory in the newly created seat of Newtown.
“Provisional results look positive in the Northern NSW electorates, with Adam Guise looking set to take Lismore and a big swing for Tamara Smith in Ballina.
“Rural Australians are beginning to understand that the Greens represent their interests, particularly in Northern NSW where they are faced with the issue of coal seam gas exploration.
“The NSW Greens took strong policies to the election, with a particular focus on improving public transport and reducing reliance on cars.
“Importantly, the NSW Greens actively opposed the $15 billion WestConnex toll road because the Greens understand that investing in public transport is the only way to reduce congestion and reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
“I congratulate my colleagues on their success and am really pleased to see the Greens making progress across the country, following our success at the Victorian election.
